Eleftheria Square is disgusting. It’s just concrete slabs everywhere. Which makes it crap for hot climates like us. You can’t sit on the benches bc there’s no covering on top. Also there’s no greenery around so it just seems dystopian as it’s just GRAY.
Also, why the hell would they spend 2k on benches???? They have constant security patrols in case our peasant feet touch them.
Prague has a way different architecture than Nicosia why you comparing two completely different things.
First they need to understand the concept of a tree and it’s benefits instead of seeing them as vermin that need chopping down.
For cyprus is good, yes it looks and it is bad but for the country’s standards is good
Nicosia needs more trees and shade.
Zaha Hadid’s work looks great on paper but it’s not usable. Same thing in Baku. Huge building, very intricate design, inyetesting geometry, no shade, no trees. It’s fucking hot in Baku too. Urban architecture should be USABLE not just look nice in 3d max.
My turn to post about this square next time
Lmao they built a fucking public square in the hottest city in a Mediterranean country without shade on top. That tells you everything you need to know about the geniuses behind this disaster.
Don’t even get me started on the fking aesthetic disaster this is.
Thank you OP for adding a pic of yourself, much appreciated
A friend who is an architect sat me down to explain all the intricacies of Zaha’s cement design and how this is a trademark of her work. I still hate it. It clashes with the Venetian architecture of the walls, and in my opinion they should have used the same stone (πουροπετρα) as the walls themselves.
I kind of missed how it used to be. Shit on the surface with just a couple of periptera but it was a green oasis under. Now it’s shit everywhere
All cities need parks with grass honestly the dry climate of Cyprus makes me wanna leave more than anything else
It looks like the game graphics haven’t fully loaded
This looks kinda like a skate park and less like a square
