  1. Libraries all across the South of Ireland have been getting harassment and threats from far-right agitators over the past few months, as was noted here a while back when they intimidated staff of the Dubray branch in Cork and [a protest that went viral online in Tralee that saw these thugs trying to force their way into the library to harass people in attendance.](https://www.thejournal.ie/readme/lgbtq-drag-protest-6124389-Jul2023/?utm_source=shortlink)

Now they’ve actually managed to get a library to close outright because the worries of what will happen to staff and customers are that bad, and because the Gardai are doing literally nothing to stop these bastards from their little demonstrations that are just thinly-veiled excuses to bully people and spout homophobic rhetoric. Fucking disgusting.

  2. It’s about time we saw our elected representatives not only speak loudly and clearly on this but to actively lead a counter demonstration. It’s pathetic how timid they are in the face of intimidation by a small number of goons

  3. Sad fuckin day when libraries can’t open because of people demonstrating.

Sadly protestors and counter protestors don’t give a flying fuck about the people who use the library, they just want to be right, and to be seen to be right. Ego run amok.

Gardai should be there, even two would do the job. If one of these Americanised fuckwits wants to get arrested for harassing someone, let them.
