They found that the same food would have different recommended serving sized depending on the pack size but claim that is “to help consumers achieve a healthy balanced diet and to meet the varying requirements of families”.
So what the fuck does a recommended portion size mean if it is so arbitrary as to be changed across different pack sizes? Buying a sharing bag of crisps shouldn’t change the portion size, when the person is still the same.
Smarties do a 400g Easter egg where the potion size is 1/20 which is obviously bollox. Who is going to eat 1/20 of an egg? I’d say for 400g 1/8 would be reasonably.
It’s hard to think of a way of enforcing clearer portion sizes though as it’s an arbitrary decision.
An example of insane labelling. Lidl 150g blueberries – delicious by the way. Pack says 1 of your five a day. Does that mean I should eat 750g or just one blueberry? Mad!
>Which? asked 229 people to pour themselves a glass of wine or juice at home and then measure how much they had served.

>About half of white-wine drinkers poured more than the official small serving of 125ml
Never in my life have I wanted a small serving of wine. Pubs usually sell multiple sizes of wine servings and I don’t see many people buying the small unless it’s the last drink of the night and they are saving money.
How many poured more than the official standard serving of 175ml. I doubt these people were actually confused.
No wonder we’ve an obesity problem. A nation of fatties and idiots.
Me eats 360g bag buttons in one sitting, small print on back serving size 60g me oh whelp like am going carry set scales around with me.
Of course it does.
When you sell a 100g bag of crisps and say a serving size is 30g it’s clearly bollocks.
