Is it time for the UK to pay more attention to emigration?

  1. In Ireland we definitely saw an increase in applicants from Britain, especially in the weeks after the brexit vote. However the companies i work with vie for pan EU contracts so UK applicants without an EU passport couldn’t be considered.

There has definitely been more UK contractors on Irish building sites since the vote, which didn’t happen in the previous building boom.

  2. Well yeah. Brain drain is real and we’re already feeling the effects of it. What’s keeping people here when they can earn more and build a better life elsewhere?

  3. Brain drain will be massive in the UK when people start realising that you can get way more money in the US or a better quality of life in continental Europe.

  4. It doesn’t really matter, the amount of people who would want to move to the U.K. from lesser developed countries is immense.

I’d guess billions (if not at least hundreds of millions) would instantly snap up the opportunity to move to the U.K. if given the chance.

If more people leave the U.K., the government simply eases immigration restrictions slightly for certain sectors.

  5. I’d be out of the country tomorrow if I could but some cunts have made the infinitely harder.

  6. I bet alot of rich people are leaving for places like Croatia.
It’s like big brother here now, you let off a fart and you get a fine ffs

  7. I work in logistics, so nothing flashy by any stretch and I left The UK in 2018 and moved to Europe.

In those 5 years I’ve been able to retrain slightly and land a decent job where I can gain a lot of valuable experience and meet a lot of people. In The UK I would have struggled to even get on the first rung of the ladder I climbed here.

It’s hard being away from family and friends, I miss hearing my own language on the street and the iplayer. But I can live a better life here than I ever could in The UK, if I could do what I’m doing here in The UK and earn the same amount of money (relatively), I’d do that, but that’s not possible.

  8. As long as we’re getting Doctors and teachers from South Asia and Africa. They won’t care. The NHS and public education are the most deprived professions in the UK. The government can tempt people from poorer countries, but once they catch up – the solution evaporates.

  9. UK is not a great destination for a lot of folk these days, it’s a shell of it’s former self. Gutted from the insides by incompetent government blight

  10. As a Physics teacher I left for good. No point staying in broken brexit Britain. I now save more than I earn in UK.

  11. Wages in the UK are absolutely terrible.

Taxes are barely much lower than on the continent.

A huge brain drain is underway of skilled workers to the EU and US – but you’ll never hear of it, because it contradicts the fantasy the UK gov lives in
