Can i explore old quarrys, like this in Borba, Évora. I have seen multiple articles from 2018 about an accident that happen on a quarry. The articles says that there are a lot of abandond quarrys like this. Are they still private properties? How ilegal is it to explore?

Most land in Portugal is private so you are most likely trespassing. That being said, worst case scenario you will get off with a fine.
By the way, if you get gravelly injured (or die) you can forget about suing the owners, you will get close to nothing for being a dumbass, just like it should.
