Hi all, just arrived Finland but encountered a problem when driving.
In this pic, I drive on right, and wish to go to the star marked driveway. When the traffic is busy and I need to stop somewhere to wait. How to not affect traffic behind me? The road is narrow and not easy for others go pass from my right.
I assume there’re three opinions: A,B and C.
A: Stop at A and turn left. But it’s not easy because of the pedestrian island(easily go faraway)
B: Stop at B and make the u-turn when no cars come.
C: Stop at C and go through when no cars come.
I used to drive in New Zealand and there is a medium way for people who need to stop and wait in the middle but I have not idea what to do now.
Excuse my English and thank you very much!

Of course option A. In traffic, you will influence others and sometimes people need to wait. This is why rules are important. Just follow the rules of the road. Don’t be friendly, be predictable.
Full throttle…
Actually you’re in Finland. There is no oncoming traffic so pick whatever you want
Basically you can turn at A if there are more cars, but frankly I’d just go C if its empty 😅 the A point is big enough to allow 2 cars next to each other, so you can signal left, go as close as possible to the center line, give priority to the ones on the opposite band and turn, those on the same lane as you will pass you on the right or wait.
Signal left and slow as you approach the zebra crossing, stop and allow pedestrians to cross if there are any, if not approach to A at a crawl, stop if there are oncoming vehicles from the opposite direction. Turn into the driveway when safe. Do not worry about staying as much to the left if there are vehicles behind you as this road is single lane only.
Like the other Redditor said, be predictable.
If the designer of the road wanted that traffic would not stop, then the road would be 2 lanes to same direction. As that is not the case, you have the right to stop the traffic for as long as is needed
Option A indeed. If there’s a safe spot to turn around nearby further down the road (roundabout etc), you could also drive there and then return via the opposite lane where the final turn to your destination is much easier. But I would use this option only if it was really busy traffic going both directions…
Well, it depends.
Are you alone at the road? Straight to the star.
Are there light traffic? A.
Heavy traffic: B, but that’s not really helping so i would go further on, turn left and then turn back to just turn left up the hill.
