Words can’t describe the sheer HATRED I feel towards this government. They seem utterly incapable of long-term thinking. Why the fuck are we planning a massive expansion of fossil fuels? This is totally insane.
Well of course. There is only a few more decades left to give out billions of pounds in contracts to friends for soon to be redundant energy.
The Uxbridge by-election result was a disaster for us all. The Tories now see a way to win votes.
The campaign has just become “Labour and the Tories are the same, but with the Tories we get to stand up to Putin with our own gas and oil, and you keep the freedom to drive your car wherever and whenever you like”.
We’re all fucked.
He’s right. A quarter of our energy under net zero will still come from natural gas & oil. Where this comes from has to be considered.
Why open ourselves up towards being completely dependent on corrupt OPEC nations or the volatility of growth in Asia for what will remain a huge portion of our energy consumption?
The next decade is crucial if we are going to transform our current infrastructure and way of living. We have a golden opportunity to both be green and energy independent.
We should have kept nuclear and expanded it, we should have invested in renewables and energy storage. We did not. As a society we should reduce our role in carbon emissions.
Shooting ourselves in the foot by not investing in our energy independence is not a solution. When something happens to shock the world energy supplies, the loud idiots that demand we don’t plan go silent and never take accountability. They did it with nuclear, and they’ll do it with this.
Someone will be consuming and selling gas, unilateral actions will not effect climate change. What you are really advocating for is to boost the economies of Saudi or Russia, which questions your motives in this.
Southern Europe burning, Ireland (where I am) raining non stop for 5 or 6 weeks, temperature records being beaten nearly every year etc etc. Yet these evil cunts are still expanding! I’ve gotten to the stage where I’m convinced if someone showed them irrefutable proof that the earth would burn to a cinder exactly one year from today, they would be over the moon that they still had 364 days left for making profits.
