You read the explanation of Mastodon and it’s further evidence to me this thing will flop. Credit to the BBC for the trying and for all those promoting Mastodon but people don’t care about federated social networks, they want a place where they get the BBC Sports or Music updates.
It’s so convoluted to explain to people. It’s hard to convey the benefits. It’s hard to explain they can ‘choose their instance’. They want a site they can sign up for, that the people they follow exist on and it’s simple.
I know I read this earlier on Jimmy. It’s a good federated service.
