Here we see a huge celebration after the world cup win in berlin, and if you pay attention to the flags being waved, you’ll notice some of them is actually the west german flag.
Is there any reason to this? By 2014 it had already been a long time since germany united, and most of the ones celebrating looks to be in their 20s, (meaning by the time they shouldn’t remember much, or any of the times where germany were split). Are westerners proud of being from western germany? or is there another reason that people choose to celebrate with the western flag over the current national flag?

And if by “West Germany”, you mean the Federal Republic, we still have that. The former GDR joined.
