  1. US needs to park a carrier group in the Black Sea already.

  2. How many people can you feed with 180.000 tonnes of grain for one year? Will Russian Hitler kill more people in Africa with hunger than Russian soldiers in Ukraine with a pointless war?

  3. 360 million lbs of grain could have fed a lot of people.

  4. From NATO-Ukraine Council addresses serious security situation in the Black Sea, 26-July-2023 ([https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/news_217835.htm](https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/news_217835.htm)):

    >NATO and Allies are **stepping up surveillance and reconnaissance** in the Black Sea region, including with maritime patrol aircraft and drones. Since last year, in response to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, NATO has significantly increased its presence in the region, including with **two new multinational battlegroups in Bulgaria and Romania**.

The allies are going to be seriously watching now, and they’ve put extra troops in NATO countries – neither of which seems to directly protect Ukraine or grain shipment.

I may be missing an important connection, but I’m not seeing how increased surveillance, even if had occurred before the attacks, would have preserved those 180,000 tonnes of grain.
