Hi all! I’m looking into changing my career and is very interested in getting into tech, I’m currently a chef. I live in Tampere and do have a permanent residency.

I found this Software Engineering course from TAMK and is wondering if anyone who has successfully got in to this (or similar) course could give me insights and tips on where I should put my focus on so I could successfully get in?

For example: what to study, book recommendations, topics I should focus on learning, tips on how to pass the exams, etc.

Any insights help a lot! I really am interested in programming but so far I only know the basics, i.e building/designing basic websites.

I speak Finnish on a conversational level so I would need to apply for the English class as I don’t think my Finnish is fluent enough for university.

Hopefuly someone here could give some tips, working as a chef is fun and I love it but its not a career I see myself in the next many years. I’m passionate about tech so this course is an easy choice.

Thanks in advace for any advice!

  1. I don’t want to nitpick, but degree you get from AMK is not actually an university degree.
