Some background: According to the Finnish government, Finland no longer has the money to maintain the highest and most expensive social security in the world and therefore they must be cut so that Finnish government spending can be adjusted, balanced and fit into the budget. By cutting finnish social security, the government is also trying to reduce the passive effect of benefits and the incentive trap to stay at home.

Now the timetable for the reform of social security is taking shape, and it seems that the first cuts to reduce subsidies would already take place this fall, so I thought that this news is something that would interest people on this sub as well.

But what is your opinion about Finnish social security and its cuts? Are they too high or too low? Or the reason why some are unemployed or not?

And why, in your opinion, the Council of Europe and the European Commitee of Social Rights thinks the level of Finland’s social security is too low?

  1. I hope they cut unemployment money. This means I will start getting little enough so I can get “for living -support’ (toimeentulotuki) This means I will get same amount as before but social security office starts paying my bills.

Jk. Social security cuts are such BS. I’m constantly applying for jobs and if they take more money away from me, I will not get jobs with any larger chances. My quality of life just gets shittier.
