For the first time ever in Bulgaria, solar energy production is higher than the one from nuclear power – 38% against 37% of total energy production. The Kozluduy NPP is the largest in Bulgaria and in the Balkans. Bulgaria is the 5th largest net exporter of electricity in the EU.

Translation:
>Solar plants in Bulgaria generated more electricity than the Kozloduy NPP at lunchtime on August 1. Over 38% of the country’s electricity was produced by photovoltaics, while nuclear power was 37%. This becomes known from the operational data of the Electricity System Operator, quoted by “Capital”.
In addition to exceeding the production of the NPP (both units are now operating), the solar plants also set an absolute record of their own – over 2,000 megawatts operating at the same time. The latest data on the installed capacity of solar panels in the country was for 1750 mW, which means that at least another 300 megawatts of new capacity have been launched in recent months. One of them is the “Verila” solar park, which became operational at the end of June. By the end of the year, however, several more projects are expected to be commissioned, which means there could be more new records.
The situation is unprecedented in the energy history of the country and shows that the transformation in the sector is happening faster than expected.
Ah, one step towards a better tomorrow
For how many hours?
Title reads a bit like solar is competing with nuclear, which seems weird since both are green. Are you guys shutting down nuclear, or just hyped about solar?
