24-year-old Mexican grad student María Fernanda Sánchez Castañeda—known as Maff to her friends—was last seen on July 22, 2023 at her apartment in Berlin, Germany.

She was due to meet friends for the Christopher Street Day demonstration [LGBTQ+ Pride] that day, but she cancelled around 4 p.m., saying she had too much else to do. The last contact with her was when she texted her father and a friend at around 8 p.m. that Saturday evening, communication was lost after that. She was in good health condition. Her backdoor to the garden was opened. Her cellphone, laptop and everything else was in her bedroom. It is said that the room was messed up.

María is described as an Hispanic female, 153cm [5’0″] and approximately 48kg [105 lbs.], with long brown hair.

Her tattoos include flowers on her left bicep, right upper arm, and right wrist.

There are no advances in the investigation or clues about her disappearance. She could be nearby Berlin but searching by the Latin community , friends and family is expanding outside Germany too. Mexican embassy is already helping but we need more visibility.
