OTOH, 250k Ruzzians have had their entire body amputated.
Good helmets and body armor mean more soldiers are surviving attacks that would have been fatal, but exposed limbs still suffer.
Not surprised. This war has become nasty, brutal, and slow – something the world hasn’t seen since the world war days.
At this point, Ukraine and Russia are just hoping for the other side to collapse after grinding attrition. Its going to be slow going, especially as players like the West and China watch from the sidelines.
Yes, these horrific facts are true, but let us not forget that they are caused by the actions of the terrorist state “russia” invading a peaceful country, and that russia alone is the cause and bears all the blame for it……
Mines and artillery are the main killers in this war. Not particularly surprising. Modern prosthetics will make a big difference in quality of life.
That’s horrible to hear about. Was wondering for a moment if Russia is experiencing the same thing. Then I realized they probably have a pretty limited number based on how the war is going thus far. The Russians just die instead
Those numbers seem inflated. The true numbers are never known until well after wars end.
Not sure if this has been said before but “Fuck ruzzia”.
We need more leg armor. Also even if supplied I feel like many won’t want to wear it due to it slowing you down. Boots are too short at present and offer little protecting from tibia to knee and waist.
That said, prothèses have come w long way but it’s better to prevent it
Not surprising as at. And it’s for the best, it means their surviving what only even 20 years ago generally would have died from.
It’s a growing trend in war that death rates are significantly decreasing due to better medical training and knowledge of things as simple as tourniquets have saved tens of thousands of lives since their introduction.
Feel like this is something that should be lightly celebrated for. WW1 saw two complete generations wiped out among every nation. Modern medicine is keeping them alive at rates that we are meeting and will beat the amputation rate of a very tragic war. That’s very impressive and kudos to the doctors and nurses. These Ukrainian warriors will never be physically whole again but they will still be able to enjoy their family and their lives.
