Trans people can wait seven years for NHS initial assessment

  1. The way we treat trans people in the UK is appalling. This is the stuff to get outraged about, not some advert by Costa

  2. It’s funny how unsubtle the brigading can be. Articles that allow for people to JAQ off about trans people being a hypothetical threat to women blow up and get abnormally high engagement both in votes and comments, but anything about how rough we have it gets hit by an initial wave of downvotes to try and keep it from the first page so it doesn’t get discussed

Certain people really don’t want to acknowledge anything that goes against the narrative

  3. I’ve been in the queue for The Laurels for just under 6 years no first appointment, no contact, in a parallel dimension where I couldn’t afford private I dread to think where I would be.

Putting life on hiatus for that much time over something so major (we struggle for a long time before calling a GP) is severely damaging and running waiting lists this long is a political choice. The system could be made so much more benign and efficient and this isn’t a covid thing, the issues here long predate the pandemic.

Eugh trans life in this country is just so unjust and tough, trans life without money in this country is just beyond difficult.
