  2. The UK needs oil and gas until it can transition totally to renewables, we either buy and ship it from overseas, or we get it out the North Sea.

    Has anyone on Reddit any idea how long it takes to manufacture enough heat pumps to replace the gas and oil boilers in our homes? Has anyone here, or working for the Guardian rag any idea how long it takes to manufacture and sell 20 million electric cars to replace the petrol and diesel ones we have?

    Government plans are not particularly ambitious, nor will any other flavour of government do any better, but we really need to do a little simple maths here…
