TV licence revenue drops €2.7m in July

  1. To the average person, nothing has changed. They were up before the PAC, damning headlines were published, nobody has been held accountable and nothing came of it. I’m *somewhat* aware there is more to come but until that happens it just looks like another Irish saga of ‘lessons were learned’.

    I pay my licence fee and in all likelihood will pay it again but it’s not due until October. If it was due now I’m not so sure I’d be as quick to pay it.

  2. While I agree with the sentiment, all this is going to do is lead to a “revamp” to change from a TV licence to an entertainment fee which will include phones, tablets and internet

  3. Can someone explain that maths to me?

    3,490 licences x €160 = €558,400 but they are down €2.7m?

    2.7m would be 17,000 licenses.

    Edit: Going by the figures in the article, they are down 5,286 licenses not 3,490 so they are down €845,760.

    That is some shambolic arithmetic on their part.
