On the morning of 2 August 1980 a bomb planted in the central train station of Bologna, Italy killed 85 people and wounded over 200. The massacre, executed by neofascist terrorist organisations as part of the socalled strategy of tension, is to these days the deadliest episode in peacetime Italy.

Scum of the earth. No idea why the death penalty was ever abolished for the vermin responsible for these types of savage crimes against innocent civilians.
late 70’s early 80’s terrorism was crazy, it was kicking off everywhere.
Have family there. One of their friends’ wife died in the bombing. They found her slumped on her desk where she had sat when the bomb went off.
I had a law professor who told us how on that morning of that day he had a train ride scheduled from that station. Fortunately he forgot to set his clock and thus he overslept. Told us that he considers it his 2nd birthday and that he was and would be never angry at someone who forgot to set his clock and overslept.
