First sentence and already we have the CO2 scarecrow invoked
Is ‘preventing’ wildfires a good thing to do? I’ve heard that having light more frequent fires is good to get rid of all the flammable shrubbery and plant waste, and doesn’t necessarily harm the trees. And that generally the longer a forest goes without a fire the more horrible it will be when it finally does happen. Supposedly overbearing fire management can even be harmful.
We cannot, can we?
Preventing wildfires by
(1) Using invasive weed harvesting, to generate high quality char
(2) Exporting high quality char to Africa for soil improvement
(3) Protecting predatory birds that lower the level of invsaive insects [ esp. native woodpeckers ]
