Harry Miller: Legal victory after alleged transphobic tweets

  1. >”I was assigned mammal at birth, but my orientation is fish. Don’t mis-species me.”

    >This tweet was among several others which were reported to Humberside Police as being allegedly transphobic and Mr Miller was visited by officers at his workplace.

The only offensive thing here is that dumb and ultimately banal jokes were perceived as some kind of threat and reported as such, and that the author was visited *by officers at his workplace*.

  2. >It was recorded on a national database as a non-crime hate incident.

This sounds like some weird Tesco discount version of Minority Report.

  3. Europe and the UK needs a hate speech law or human rights tribunal like British Colombia. There needs to be something with a lower bar than criminal conviction for cases like this.

  4. Isn’t it ridiculous that the voice of the people and common sense gets sacrificed to please rabid vocal minority of authoritarian “activists”? These ideologues have no morals or principles, and they will never be happy. Society is so scared of their bullying tactics, witch hunts, and mobs that they’re arresting people for “non-crime hate speech” and literal joke tweets over genuine crime like fucking organized child rape. The more people stay silent on things like this out of fear, the more you realize that the path to authoritarianism is already underway. We should never give in to these parasites or their ridiculous demands.
