  1. >”In English there is an expression ‘poker face.’ There is even a good song by Lady Gaga relating to this. It is a stone face with not a single muscle flinching when an opponent on the other side of the card table makes a move,” Ryabkov said.

    LMFAO

  2. In the end.. either the west gives concessions, or Putin has to invade Ukraine or others will do (after they dethroned Putin).

Those ‘others’ would be much more radical, i guarantee you. You can say what you want about Putin, but in the russian politics the most ‘alternatives’ are much worse than Putin. Communists and War mongers.

  3. Pretty sure that you could announce that you were going to invade Ukraine if you are actually willing to do so without compromising any important details of your “Plan B”. There is considerably more information available than that from reconaissance, and it would make the threat rather more-credible in that you’d pay a domestic political price for saying that you’d invade followed by not doing so.

As it stands, the Kremlin has worked very hard to avoid using wording that would be embarrassing to back down on if it has no intention to move against Ukraine. That makes a lot of sense if the Kremlin has no intention to actually move against Ukraine.
