ჩიჩილაკი | Chichilaki – Georgian Christmas tree

  1. Chichilaki (ჩიჩილაკი) is a Georgian traditional Christmas tree made from dried hazelnut or walnut branches that are shaved to form a small coniferous tree, it’s most common in the Guria and Samegrelo regions of western Georgia. The belief in Chichilaki stems from ideas related to the tree of life and fertility. Today modern Christmas trees are put up in most Georgian families during Christmas/New Year time, but many people still put up Chichilakis as well, thus having two different Christmas trees at the same time.

  2. Georgian script is for me at least one of the most beautiful ones . Happy Christmas to you all 🙂 .
