  1. Hardly a surprise. They closed the pubs where the majority of drinkers take beer & drove consumers into drinking at home where they’re much more likely to drink harder alcohol and less inclined to care about drinking too much & making a show of themselves.

Also, many pub goers have been priced out of going to the pub too.

    Cause & effect.

  2. But I thought MUP would solve all our alcohol related ills?

  3. It’s worth it for the deliciousness of our saviour that is alcohol

  4. I can’t believe Weed would do this, it’s so dangerous!

    Oh wait…

  5. Ireland has a very naive and unhealthy relationship with alcohol. There honestly needs to be proper health and lifestyle education at a primary and secondary level(not a holy Joe approach)

  6. This should put an end to people suggesting that the increase in people seeking treatment for alcoholism is just a sign that people are more willing to overcome the stigma and seek help.

  7. ( I’m not talking about alcoholics, they’ve a different level problem) but why is it that Irish people almost swear on the blessed picture that they “have” to drink almost every weekend??!!

Again, not taking about people addicted to alcohol, but people who are adamant that there’s nothing else to do but drink every weekend.. there’s no many other things you can do.

Oh my friends asked me out – you chose to say yes.
There’s nothing on netflix- go to the cinema.
The weather’s great, let’s go and drink.
The weather’s awful, sure we’ll pass the time drinking.
I had a shite week (every week) I have to drink.
I had a great week, I’m gonna celebrate with drink.

Excuse after excuse. I love a cold pint of cider, but after a night out, I’ll not do it again for months, maybe 5 or 6 months again.

It’s like people feel sorry for the state drink leaves them in, short and long term, and you’d swear they had a gun put to their head and forced to drink every week.

Be your own person for God’s sake, especially if you’re an adult and say no if you really don’t want to drink. (I understand with teenagers, they do stuff to fit in, and that’s natural) but christ, as an adult if you’re still doing these things to fit some “”mould”, you need to have a chat with yourself.

And no, as an adult, the shite of “”oh all my friends are always out I have to go out too and write myself off””.. no , you didn’t have to, you chose to.

Go out this weekend, enjoy a scatter of pints and then leave it again for ages, unless you were born yesterday, you know drink isn’t good for you, so don’t blame anyone else for your choices, take accountability for your own choices, and stop saying the reason you went drinking is because there’s seven days in a week.
