Can anyone here argue in good faith that slashing this will really *save* ~300 million? Digitisation is a core pillar of the modern economy, not doing it just means less productivity. Hundreds of millions (billions?) will just be wasted dealing with and employing bureaucrats who could be automated.
Also 300 million euros just doesn’t seem like much money for an economy of Germany’s size. In a longer term sense we’re probably talking hundreds of billions in productivity benefits. Three million euros is truly nothing (it’s so low I’m wondering if there’s more to this story?)

Not digitizing your government and country is even more costly.

Devils advocate: IT projects, especially in the state sector tend to be extremely wastefull with their ressource management
very bad move Germany considering importance of digital tech will be much bigger in coming years

So by 2026 we will have more fax machines and a fascist far right government. Great
