* **Tens of thousands of Ukrainians have had their homes destroyed in the war.**
* **But the company HOMErs is fixing that problem by building fully-furnished properties.**
* **Take a look inside one of the homes, which can be made in days and sells for just $18,000.**
“A Kyiv School of Economics study published earlier this year found that more than 149,000 residential buildings in Ukraine have already been damaged or destroyed. In March, the World Bank estimated that it could take $411bn (£323bn) to rebuild the entire country”
Jesus… Fucking… Christ… And it’s only so far…
I’d love to see what these actually look like inside w/o the CGI interiors. They’ve always fascinated me but getting actual photographs is difficult.
I hope these are as good as they look, they’ll probably be needed for a long time.
After WWII the UK built 156,000 similar prefabricated homes that were intended to be a short-term solution to the housing crisis caused by German bombing. I remember lots of ‘prefabs’ surviving into the 60s, and the last prefabs were demolished in 2018.
What a great idea! The world needs affordable housing.
Ukrainian resilience, fortitude, and innovation are inspiring.

3 meters by 3 meters, I bet they look nothing like on their website. 3×3 is enough for one person to live in cramped conditions with a bed either suspended from the ceiling or folded into the wall, and the photos on their website show a lounge and kitchen that would themselves be 3×3 each.
But the good thing about this is that it is a starting point, There will be a lot of people looking for work once the war is won and this is one area where it is relatively easy to manufacture these small homes, remembering most will be temporary accommodation until people can repair their homes or rebuild them.
One thing I think that would benefit Ukraine a lot is if they used the military personnel after the war for about a year to help rebuild, training soldiers on the job so that would have a career path once they left the army.
Ok but why is this $18,000? Maybe in a western country this may seem cheap but in Ukraine this is a VERY expensive price tag. I can build this for less then $4000 fully furnished.
Also, people have real homes destroyed, they don’t need “tiny homes” that are only 3m x 3m. They need their houses back.
A better option is to give them money to buy a house in a village nearby for a few thousand dollars and a budget of $15,000 to renovate it.. which will be more then enough for a nice modern house.
EDIT: in case someone may downvote me, I will include a source with over 100 pages of homes for sale in all regions of Ukraine for less then $4000

Great job. I recall Britain did this after WW2. Some of the old prefab/ prefabricated homes still stand today.

What do Ukrainians think of this? Seem temporary to me.
