Hello People,

So I got into a bit of a mess with riding a scooter…

I was stopped by a police patol car and fined for riding a VOI scooter (20 km/h top speed) the wrong direction on a one-way street with the ‘cyclist free’ sign. It happened in an early morning in a quiet neighborhood with no incident or alcohol involved. The one-way was like no more than 30 metre long and was literally next to my apartment. But the officer explained to me that it is not a bicycle and so I have to follow traffic rules for motor cars and slapped me with a 50 Euro ticket (in the name of an ‘administrative fine’).

However, I looked it up here [https://www.thelocal.de/20220913/explained-the-rules-for-riding-an-e-scooter-in-germany](https://www.thelocal.de/20220913/explained-the-rules-for-riding-an-e-scooter-in-germany). It reads

‘Riding an e-scooter on the pavement, in pedestrian-only zones, or in one-way streets against the direction of traffic is also not allowed and can land you a fine of between €15 and €30.

However, e-scooters are allowed on one-way or no-entry roads which have a “cyclists free” sign.’

So according to this website, I did nothing wrong; and even if so, the fine should not have exceeded 30 Euro? I understand this article is from September last year. So the laws might have changed? Can someone let me know if I am in the wrong and if I can contest it in court?

Many thanks!
