Buy now, pay later medical loans on rise as desperate patients go private amid NHS backlogs

  1. Just anecdotally a lot of people around me have private medical through their employer and they never bother to look into how to actually use it. Then when they have some type of medical issue that falls into the ever-widening band of issues that the NHS just tells you to ‘manage’, they pay for private consultations out of pocket because they forget they’ve got private medical. It’s really mind-boggling.

  2. The problem with private healthcare is that….they are the same doctors as they’d have had in the NHS so more private consultations equals less time these doctors give to the NHS.

  3. I’m on enhanced rate pip for care and mobility and have a 10 hour a week care package. There’s a fairly straightforward operation that while it won’t solve all my health issues should conceivably restore my walking mobility to normal.
I’ve been waiting for the initial consultation since I was referred in January during which time I’ve become a wheelchair user and had to have all this support put in because walking has become too painful and i keep falling.
No idea how long the waiting list will be once I actually get the referral.
The UK Is now in a situation where taxpayers are paying to support me as a disabled wheelchair user rather than carry out a routine spinal fusion surgery.
    Absolutely insane.
