Hello,

I am planning to head to Jotunheimen (bus to Gjendesheim from Oslo) next Friday. I’ve been keeping tabs on the weather – and I see a red severity warning “hans” for Mon-Wed: [https://www.yr.no/en/extreme/hans](https://www.yr.no/en/extreme/hans)

With this much rainfall, I’ll imagine it’ll probably have effects for several days after – should I still head here or should I head somewhere else? Is travel even likely? Unfortunately can’t really re-arrange entirely, as I’m flying in from another country for about a week. I am also planning on camping, so that’s another factor.

Hoping someone who is more familiar with the area may be able to advise! If you’d advise against going here because of this, are there any other similar places that you’d recommend and are accessible via public transport?

Thanks

  1. It doesn’t sound pleasant at all.

The bad weather seem to be covering all of western and southern Norway. It can be very dangerous hiking, as most trails have river crossings, and the current will probably flow pretty hard with the predicted rain. It will also get muddy and slippery, with low viability, so i can’t imagine you get to enjoy any of the scenic landscape. The rain seem to be lasting for at least two weeks, with the current forecast.

If i were you, i would see if i could book a plane directly from Oslo Airport, further north to [Lofoten](https://cdn.fjordtours.com/imagecache/a/8/a/d/c/b/a8adcb1c919148260484d240faa5b3caa3cb3692.jpg), [Senja](https://www.tranoya.no/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Senja-Norway.jpg), or Tromø.

There the weather is forecast to be sunny and warm, and you will have some great hiking experiences there as well.
