Tuesday, 8 August 2023 is International Cat Day! Whether you love them or not so much, we can all agree that cats play an important part in many people’s lives. Unfortunately, many of these lovely creatures live a life on the streets living in feral colonies.

In Ireland alone, there are perhaps 200,000 feral cats roaming the streets of your city right now. Cats can start reproducing as young as 4 months of age and can have up to three litters a year averaging 4 kittens per litter. That’s why it’s super important to capture them and have them neutered, before returning them to their lives.

That’s where organizations such as North Dublin Cat Rescue come in. Staffed entirely by volunteers, cats and kittens are trapped, brought to a vet where they are neutered and given any other medical assistance they may need. They are then either released back to their colony or if they’re young enough, rehomed so they can live a life where they will be treated like the gods that they are.

If you’d like to help keep the feral cat population in check or perhaps become a worshipper of Felis Catus yourself, please consider donating to NDCR or any other such similar organization.
