It appears that Off The Ball are putting their podcast content behind a paywall, from tomorrow. I think that is what this announcement is saying anyway, hard to tell sometimes with this type of marketing speak

  1. They’ll do some exclusive wanking behind a paywall and have delayed releases but the site says

    “Alternatively pick us up on

    – Apple Podcasts
    – Spotify”

    They’ll prob add some ads – otherwise they can shite tbh

  4. The quality has fallen off a cliff in recent years. Plenty of other free sports pods out there. There’s nothing OTB makes that is worth paying for.

  5. Very odd that they’d drop this on a days notice and with no mention of non-sub options(if any) in their announcement tweet/video. Double the price of second captains for about 25% of the quality. Good luck

  6. Fucking heartbreaking what’s happened to podcasting. It used to be the new pirate radio and just a massive fascinating open university of ideas and education. Then the human condition kicks in and it’s monetised.
    People shouldn’t have to go to all that effort for nothing, I’m not saying they should. But massive companies like go loud and a cast etc buying everything up has ruined it all.
    Hopefully the next stage comes soon and something comes to dethrone it and replace it. That’s how these things go

  7. Anyone find the sign-up button yet?

    I see the iOS app updated yesterday & there’s 2 new in-app purchases tiers (9.99/month or 99.99/year) but don’t see anywhere I can sign-up _yet_, maybe it’s not activated?
