>Minister for Integration Roderic O’Gorman has said the vast majority of student accommodation being used over the summer for refugees will be returned to its usual purpose in late August, early September.
Feel like I will be reading that this didn’t happen in late September
So on one hand we are hearing every day about the housing crisis and this shortages of accommodation. Then, on the other hand, intergovernmental agreements comes out with crap like this. No student accommodation will ever realistically be used, thankfully.
It seems like the Department of integration has finally been told where to go. And all of this is just a face saving measure. This should have happened last year. It seems the growing public backlash has encouraged local politicians and TDs to finally pull the finger out and start calling a spade a spade.
I am all for helping refugees, but there has to be limits. If we cannot accommodate them. We shouldn’t be taking them. It’s unfair on the refugees in question, and it’s unfair on those looking for accommodation, students, et cetera.
You can be damn well sure there won’t be housed anywhere near the official’s and politicians making these decisions.
