Just watched the documentary on Noel Brown. It was the best rte documentary I have ever seen. He stayed true to what he believed in and fought every inch of the way. Rip, your legacy will live on.

Watched it too. It was brilliant. He was brilliant.
Great documentary, what an amazing man. Did you see taoiseach John costellos reaction when questioned if it was right to follow Catholic doctrine during an interview. He got really angry and said it was every Irish persons duty to follow what the bishops told them and medical people had no right to discuss women’s health as it was a matter for the church. I realise it mightn’t be a popular opinion here but its amazing how much the country has moved forward in 60 years.
The clip showing the woman phoning into the Late Late Show and apologising to him for putting up anti-Mother and Child scheme posters for the nuns as a child was a lovely moment.
I found the footage of him in the 60s berating the idea that ‘the Lord will provide’ for those living in poverty and with far too many children absolutely searing. It was extremely powerful viewing now, can’t imagine how it must have been viewed in the 60s when it was close to blasphemy.
