Hi everyone,
I’ve recently been looking into getting a new phone. My phone provider is Play here in Poland. I was browsing through their website and noticed that instead of paying for the phone fully I can pick this option ‘Abonament’. To my understanding this means that I’ll sign a contract with Play, make a down payment of 500zl and then will be paying 85zl/month while I’m using the phone. Am I correct? Could someone please correct me if I’m wrong? Thank you very much for taking your time 🙂
P.S. Example of the phone I was looking at:

You will pay 250 per month for the phone and 85 for abonament so it will be 335 per month so in total you will pay 8540 phone + abonament
Basically that’s how it works, yes.
You’ll be paying off the device together with the actual service fees on the basis of monthly invoices, according to the operator’s T&Cs for that particular package deal. Typically those T&Cs would state that the phone will remain the property of the operator until fully paid off. That would prohibit you from selling the phone (no right to transfer ownership if you’re not the owner), require you to keep paying if you break it or lose it, and give the operator an option to remotely disable the device in some specific scenarios (such as you defaulting on your payment).
Typically, normal retailers have better base prices on devices than operators with their package deals. Most major retailers also offer payment plans with better conditions than operators (look for “raty 0%”).
