I hate nestle like crazy, but what that CEO said about water some years ago got reported in a very very manipulated way.
This is exactly what he meant back then. Water is a human right, but unlike other human rights it doesn’t automatically mean you can use/waste it as much as you want. So excessive use of water isn’t a human right. Back in India when people build homes, they bore pipes deep into earth and there is literally ZERO entity motioning how much water you consume. I have seen people take shower 3 times just because they can and this happens in the same society where in a different neighborhood or village people get water only 1 hour a day and they need to collect in big pots for the day to day use or walk km long distances to fetch water on your head.
I live in Germany and I pay for the exact amount of water I use here. It’s not free like a human right should be.
Just price water correctly and you wouldn’t have shortages
Why has Spain waited this long to do it? I have heard that there has been water shortage for like 2 months around Barcelona, why wouldn’t they introduce restrictions earlier?
Watering grass to keep gardens green and allowing people to fill up their pools seems a bit stupid when it’s already clear there’s a shortage.
Meanwhile here in the north this is the first summer week of the year
Meanwhile in Scandinavia, a dam just collapsed in Norway after more than a month’s rain has come down in two days.
