Groups tend to be more profitable. It takes less waiter time to serve a table of 8 vs. 4 tables of 2. And often groups drink more and thats the highest margin product for restaurants
First it was “you can’t sit unless you are going to have dinner at 18h” and now this smh

It’s hardly just barcelona lol, almost all low end restaurants will do this sort of thing during peak hours if they expect to be able to fill all seats anyways.
