I believe renovating this street is an excellent move as the locals avoided this beautiful area of Old Nicosia partly due to the dilapidation of its buildings (combined with the demographic of the area which I think is of secondary importance).
I really like the blue-door yellowstone-frame white house style that’s been popping up in the old town recently.
Can’t wait for more renovations (and please for the love of god some pedestrianisation, the whole place is begging to be free from cars already)
I hate this area it’s like a maze. Even more of a maze than the rest of old nicosia.
Sorry but this renovation is bad. The problem is money spent and next renovation will be in 8-10 years. Here are flaws of this renovation. Roads are too wide so cars unintentionally move faster on wide roads. Pedestrian road is too narrow. That means less people will walk there meaning less small businesses will be attracted to this are. And the biggest problem, Nicosia is a hot place. Plant trees or create shadows. The climate in Nicosia will get only hotter. But since the budget is already spent you can not do anything for next 10years when heat will be unbearable. My opinion, instead of reconstruction of 3 streets with weak designs better do one street with good solutions
