The big streaming companies are determined to drive people back to piracy aren’t they.

Continously raising prices, making the product and content on offer worse, blocking password sharing.
But they’re content is getting worse in quality. The last season of the Mandalorian was awful, and marvels been pretty poor for years now. The only decent things I’ve watched on there over the last year or so were The Bear and Andor, and god knows how long it will be before the next series of those are out. Might just cancel.
Disney’s content has been getting a lot worse lately, but also Netflix’s and they’ve both upped their prices.
Tempted to cancel both, Prime seems to be “ok” and allows me to purchase shows I want to watch and keep.
Yeah, that’s me done with them. They’ve not added any more of the Fox catalogue in months. There’s a century of films being held hostage by them.
I dislike this new trend of describing what was the norm, the “ad free tier”.
The price is reasonableish at the moment. This will knock people off them. I’m sure Disney aren’t struggling. They think £3 is just £3. It’s definitely not anymore when everyone around them is doing the same.
Gotta get that Secret Invasion money back somehow I guess.
For what it’s worth Disney+ in the UK is actually a mix of Disney, Hulu and Discovery so you do get a little more bang for your buck, but this is a shaaaarp increase right when content is about to start drying up.
I refuse to pay for Disney on principal because of airing a new season of Kardashian’s each year. I’m sure there are fans and I try bring it up in conversations at work like “did you see the Kardashian’s have been been renewed or I stayed up all weekend to catch-up”.
No wonder I never get invited out…
I’d rather pay £10 each month to watch paint dry.
Service I barely use but keep for my parents plans to hike prices and stop password sharing.
Guess I’ll be saving some money shortly.
From next year Disney+ will be a free perk for anyone with a Lloyds Club current account.
Also this month anyone with a contract with O2 mobile has been given a free 6 month trial for Disney+.
Trying to make up for the money they’re losing from the shit films they’re making lmfao
O2 just sent me a text about 6 months of free Disney plus. Might have to take that offer.
And I bet, like the fucking idiots they are, people pay it.
I have Sky Q (full pack), along with that comes Discovery+, Paramount+, and Peacock (all the terrestrial on demand stuff iPlayer, ITVx, all4, 5oD etc,), I pay extra for Netflix, and Amazon Prime.
That still leaves Apple TV+, Disney+, Hula, Lionsgate, DAZN, Viaplay and on and on all of which host exclusive content, so the choice is pay up or don’t watch – or sail the high seas.
*Disney gross profit for the twelve months ending March 31, 2023 was* ***$28.739B****, a 11.01% increase year-over-year.*
But yeah, let’s fleece the consumers even more. It is sickening how greedy these people are.
I remember the founding years of Netflix, tail end of LoveFilm it was affordable and convenient. They didn’t have every film under the sun but I got to dip into libraries I’d never had a chance to see before like Army of Darkness. Now I’ve cancelled all subscription services because between Plex and YouTube I have more than enough content. I only have Prime left but that’s shared and used mostly for deliveries.
