Hello,
My wife and I just stayed 10 nights at Protaras Plaza Hotel and we were graced by a very sweet, young female cat who lived exclusively at or around this hotel. Unfortunately, the hotel staff seem to pay little attention to the cat and it is unclear if they are allowed to feed it. Because the cat is still young we decided to buy cat food and keep it fed during the time we stayed. We also spent many great nights just hanging out by the pool alone playing with our new friend 🙂
However, on the last days of the trip the cat developed a limp and would put much attention into keeping weight off of its front, left paw. We were able to hold the cat and examine the paw, as well as take pictures of the problem. It is not severe, just an infected paw (under the paw) from something that injured it previously. It simply needs to be disinfected/cleaned with saline water, applied with antibiotic cream, and bandaged in order for the infection to heal.
The problem is that we were only able to find this out in the last hours of the trip before our flight. My wife was not feeling well so we had to put extra attention in during the last day to prepare for the journey home. So I’m here to ask for advice / ideas / help.
We considered asking the hotel staff to help but they already seemed to ignore the cat even though it is there every day during breakfast, lunch, dinner and spending time all over the relatively small hotel property / pool area. It is possible that they take initiative and try to help it but I’m not confident that will happen.
Next we thought about contacting a veterinarian / animal clinic in the area to ask if they could send someone to the hotel to clean and bandage the paw injury. We would offer to pay for the time and treatment if it is within a reasonable cost. The cat is always there during breakfast and dinner and can found during those times with certainty, or with the coordination of the hotel staff if we explained it to them.
I wanted to ask if this ^ seems like something that is possible considering the high number of cats in need on the island?
Does anyone have a recommendation of a vet clinic that may be able to help this cat?
Lastly, is anyone here, or knowing someone near Protaras who could visit the hotel, find this very gentle and friendly cat, and help to disinfect and bandage its paw? We would pay for the efforts to required to give this amazing cat a better future! Thank you!!
(The picture with the red circle was from the first check. When we looked again before leaving the hotel, the infection had gotten worse)

You’re an amazing human being ❤️
Sorry you are probably about to get alot of “it’s just our culture” comments to leave the cats be.
Making pet friends on holiday is heartbreaking when you have to leave. Just be greatful it was a cat and not a dog.
I’m sorry I can’t be if anymore help as in too far away. But you and your wife are lovely and did your best.
message help ayia napa cats on facebook, they should be able to help.
If you can’t find anyone, just like dump the whole paw in antiseptic and hope for the best.
This is the life of cats in cyprus, they are urbanised, but they are still wild animals and as such they live the normal wild animal life of survival of the fittest.
