Hello, I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask this question. I am from Canada, and have been trying to piece together my Latvian grandfather’s military history through the war. As far as I know, he served under the W-SS. I have a paper that a family member had received in 2001 with some of this information, but I have had trouble translating some sections. I’ve done most of the words over google translate, but there are parts that I can’t make sense of. I don’t understand the “erkennungsmarke” or “truppenteil”. Google says “dog tag” and “troop part” so I assumed the acronyms following are his unit? Its those acronyms that I haven’t found a way to translate. Any help would be appreciated, figuring out a unit number or understanding the ranking would hopefully point me in the right direction in my research.
