This seems like it’s becoming a full-blown moral panic
Since Piers Corbyn is locked up please let me introduce a wild crazy conspiracy theory; the needle spiking moral panic is fake news in order to drive up anti-needle, and therefore anti-vaccine, paranoia.

Our local police force in Hampshire has had to come out and state that despite the fake news and scare stories doing the rounds, they haven’t found one single case of needle spiking
The people that actually believe shit like this is real are beyond logic and reason.
This is just moral panic. It certainly has happened – just about every imaginable violent scenario has occured – but it is not happening on this level.
146 reports, 0 credible reports of it actually happening.
You are in danger of being spiked in a club (albeit a relatively low risk), but in the traditional way, not like this.
It’s the UK version of American police keep talking about fentenayl
Edit : I was referring to them not understanding what it is and spreading mis information.
None of which happened because spiking by needle makes zero fucking sense.
‘Nottingham police receive 146 needle spiking reports from people who drank too much and didn’t want to admit it.’
Just consider the mechanics of spiking someone in a quiet/busy club with a needle. The needle itself would have to be very small in length otherwise they could get bone which would alert the victim. It’d also need to be the correct dosage and they’d have to not react badly to it.
None of it makes practical sense. Also imagine if you got caught with a needle on you when you’re searched as you enter.
One of my female friends used to get paralytically drunk and would always say she was spiked. It gave her an excuse to lessen the shame she felt for getting so wrestled. She even admitted it to us.

ANYBODY who doubts these reports is a misogynist.
Drunk women are literally incapable of lying
As someone who self injects daily insulin and biologics for arthritis, I kinda wonder just how pissed you would have to be not to notice being jabbed.
Having someone else do it whist you’re moving about and not staying very still whilst the plunger is pressed? Possible I guess but really, really unlikely without breaking or at least bending a needle, and that hurts.
No doubt the rise of needle spiking was fuelled by the fall of dog napping and strange men driving vans.
We live in strange times.
I work in hospitality. A girl told me that her friend was missing and that ‘she thinks she’s been spiked.’ We send several staff to search the pub. 30 minutes later the friend shows up, she had just wandered off somewhere for a bit and was completely fine. The girl evidently just brought up spiking because everyone is talking about spiking.
Spiking happens, but I’m seriously sceptical that it’s been happening more at the moment than at any other point. Massive amount of hysteria going on.
The thing is there *is* an epidemic of spiking, but it’s not done by needle and it’s been going on for years. This just makes it harder to get the issues treated seriously by venues and the police
Lol wtf? BBC reports on this attention-seeking (147 times in 2 months? Really? Is it a fucking gang of perverts? Or one guy going out 16 times a week?) but not the male prisoner phone calls?
