  1. The solar industry has hailed new government figures that highlight how solar farms provide the cheapest form of power in Britain as a “wake up call” for opponents of green policies.

    Late last week, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) published revised estimates of levelised costs of electricity (LCOE) from the UK’s most common energy sources, outlining the average cost per megawatt-hour generated over the lifetime of solar, wind, and fossil gas power plants.

    As long as they build them.
    As long as they build enough for our needs.

  3. What the government never points out when extolling fossil fuels is that the UK has to buy that oil and gas from the market at current market prices. We don’t get some sort of discount for using North Sea oil and gas. The government could easily apply a windfall tax to soaring fossil fuel companies’ profits and use it to push down the wholesale price of gas, which would cut domestic and business costs drastically and cut inflation.
