I have noticed that many icelandic roads have these gravel paths besides them. Are they meant for biking or for something else?

  1. This one in particular could possibly be for horse riding. But it’s fairly common for gravel roads to be alongside asphalt in Iceland and you can ride your bike on them, no problem. Just make sure you read the signs.
