The title sounds like a joke, but hear me out.

Background story: we renovated our flat last year. Obviously things took longer than expected and the day came when we desperately needed to move in – so we did, with a handful of ‘small jobs’ to do. The main builder we worked with (who was in charge of hiring any subcontractors for plastering, electricity work etc…) said since we had moved in, it was better for us to get the place furnished and he promised to come back once that was done to finish the small jobs.

Fast forward to now, he confirmed he’s not going to do it because the jobs are too small. No ‘main guy’ like him accepts to finish the work because they are on larger projects. Therefore, we’re trying to divide the small jobs into specific categories (plastering, electricity, painting, window insulation) and call specialists. No one wants to come for exactly the same reason.

How does it work in Lithuania, whenever you need to do something like adding a lamp to the ceiling, creating a new socket, fixing small plaster gaps around light switches and door frames? Elsewhere, you’d call a specialist and you’d pay them for the day. Here, no one wants to take the job because it’s not part of a huge renovation project.

I’m at a loss and I’m stuck in a flat which is comfortable but simply not finished. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Thanks for all the replies! We tried [paslaugos.lt](https://paslaugos.lt) \- no one is taking the jobs so far. I can see a few comments mention doing it ourselves. We don’t want to do it ourselves. The job would be poorly done and most likely would need to be repeated in like a year. That’s why there are specialists! Also, I think people misunderstood the “adding a lamp” part, this isn’t changing a light bulb, it’s literally to install a new lamp as there are only cables sticking out for now.

  1. Majority will do such small jobs by themselves (hang lamp, change bulb, create socket, fix plaster, paint walls etc) as works are usually very expensive.

You can search on facebook groups (e. G. geru meistru kontaktai) or more risky way – skelbiu.lt (less good quality workers usually advertise, good quality – no need to advertise as work getting by recommendations)

Companies are usually not taking such small works, or you will overpay, plus a lot of employees of them – doing evening works (after hours, without taxes) – but again, you need to search via advertisement sites, contacts of friends or facebook groups

  2. 15-20years ago we did small works by ourselfs. But last ten years was move “I do my job let electrician/plumber and so on do their job” so now to replace bulb or one socket we pay 100-200€. How to find? Pay a lot of money and you will find.

  3. Nobody wants to do it, because pay is shit. Hence why Lithuanians learned things to do them selves. Hanging a lamp is less than 1hr work, if you are in capital add 2hrs of travel time, and you have 3hr job outta nowhere. Im sure you aint shelling 200 euros for hanging a lamp. Cheaper solution would be to find “Vycioks” neighbor from Facebook neighborhood group.
