Dont forget to clean up your horse shit if you plan on using a public beach as a riding ground..

  1. I’d rather horseshit *any* day than dogshit… At least it’s big enough to see and avoid, and doesn’t stick to your shoes as tenaciously and disgustingly.

  2. Am pretty sure that’s kelp. I don’t advocate public shitting from any animal or people but horse shit is pretty much grass and decomposes faster than the seaweed piles in your photo.

  3. I hate how horse owners and farmers are treated completely different to dog owners. Shit is shit, clean it off the road and anywhere else it ends up, don’t be a cunt

Farmers moreso on back roads, but horse owners just let their horses shit anywhere, it’s fucking annoying

  4. 1 – Thats seaweed not horse shit.

2 – Any marks by humans, horses, etc. On a beach will be rectified by the incoming tide as the top layer of sand is constantly reworked so its harmless. – Source my Earth Science degree

3 – Horse shit/other animals shit on a beach is pretty much harmless to the environment so long as you can do it in the tidal zone (don’t shit in the dunes), the sea will wash it way when the tide changes. Obviously on a beach that is very heavily populated with people you should either bury it about 10cm down, or pick it up.

Beaches are public spaces, if people want to bring their horses, dogs, pigs, or children to the beach and they are under control and not causing issue for other beach users then leave them off. (I may be wrong about pigs being allowed on beaches though).

  5. Oh for f sake. OP, we share the world with animals, and animals shit. It is, as you said, a public beach. Horse shit is made of grass and will wash away with the tide. And that’s not even shit, but seaweed. Maybe this is a troll, but it has certainly hit a nerve. Get over it. Also, just as an addendum, horse owners generally stay off the beaches until the ‘quiet season’ i.e dead of winter, so as to accommodate those who want to walk their shitting dogs for 3/4 of the year. Let them at it.

  6. How do you pick up horse shit from the sea? Would you like the riders to let go of the horses while they pick up the shit? A loose horse is a lot more dangerous than some grass clumps that will be washed out to sea in a few hours. There’s no meat in horse waste and unlike a cow it’s not digested multiple times so it’s basically ground up grass.

It’s a public beach with the public on it! Also it’s the depths of winter when the beaches are deserted compared to summer.

  7. Imagine having to bring a fuckin bin bag to the beach for a hack bc melts like this expect you to PICK UP your horses shite hahahahahhahaha are they supposed to bring a shovel too? Handy out, hang it off the saddle with your bin bags and you’re set for a little trot

  8. Horse shit is literally the most benign and odourless shits of any species.
It dries out quickly and can then be used as a fun toy for children to throw at their siblings.
