Do you know this flag? In a documentary about opening of Haus der Kunst (1937) I noticed flags with three shields (?) and failed to find what they mean. Any ideas?

  1. I would assume they are the logo or family crest of the family that owns the hotel on which they are mounted here. Can’t read the name of the hotel though as it’s blocked by the flags.

  2. It represents the coat of arms of the painters’ guild. There are no exact rules for this coat of arms, but is often depicted as [three silver shields on a red blackground](https://www.maler-tuechelmann.de/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/wappen.png), or sometimes [a red, gold and blue shield on a silver background](https://image.jimcdn.com/app/cms/image/transf/none/path/s8302c7683467c444/image/i0b9466ff57cf2fd8/version/1526202666/image.gif).

This is sometimes used as the basis for [logos for modern painters and decorators](https://malerbetrieb-mertens.de/uploads/RTEmagicC_home.jpg.jpg) even today.
