Hello.
I moved in Poland and I need PESEL because I will start to work soon and my company asked me to fill some modules and on the documentation they ask for my PESEL (which I don’t have).
I’m currently staying at friend’s place until I can find a room or apartment.
Reading from the government website I can ask PESEL even if I don’t have registrate my address.

I went to the office they said I can’t request PESEL without accommodation. (Also on the modules I put my friend house address so there was an address actually)
Also I showed to the officer the page on the government website and they told me I can do without registration only if I’m staying in hostel/hotel but since I’m in apartment I can’t. Also they said I don’t need PESEL since I’m EU citizen.
This is complete nonsense for me.

What’s the truth? Can I ask PESEL without registrating my address. I need urgently and I’m afraid I could lose my job offer without it.

  1. You can request pesel on the base that you have signed a work contract and you need to pay taxes.
    It wuld be easyer if your emplyer give you a written request.
    Anyhow you nedd to provide a registration address (It can be you friends house).

  2. Can you book the cheapest hostel for couple of days? Or if it has to be 30 days, to try to find a cancellable option.
