  1. The parental leave statistics for Norway are incorrect. 59 weeks at 80% pay or 49 weeks at 100% pay are available.

  2. “8 weeks paid vacation per year”… Where? I’d like to apply to that company. Standard is 5 weeks.

  3. Stop this cope. Norway is an oil country of 5 million people. The norwegian system only works because of the government has virtually unlimited money.

  4. The paid vacation weeks should be 5 weeks. Then there’s a variable number of public holidays, adding around 1-1.5 weeks.

  5. I think the crime rate has to also do with the values of the population. America is all about glorifying rebellion. Its like a value. That makes a huge difference. Being a “bad boy” is seen as cool.

America spends most of its money on war(s) and the defense industry. If it didn’t do that, then it could be like Norway (maybe not right away) but over time. Until they stop spending gobs and gobs of money on military weapons it will sadly stay the same.
