Right so lads this is a yellow spotted millipede. Which funny enough is not native to Ireland and is fairly fucking poisonous. It crawled out of a plant my missus bought in a local co op. Have him chilling in a glass at the moment but I honestly don’t know what to do with him. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harpaphe_haydeniana that’s info on the chap. He’s a yank I think. Typical.
What the fuck do I do with it outside of kill it and could there be more in the soil of the plant ?
Are you sure it isnt native? I feel like ive seen these before
edit, sorry didnt see your explanation. Still i wouldnt be so sure, lots of bugs look very similar
Millipedes you get elsewhere this particular boy is not native as far as the internet says anyway. I’ve seen plenty of millepedes but none his size with the yellow spots.

Kill it. It’s not nice, but it’s definitely the best thing to do. Then wash the soil off the plant roots in case of eggs. Either seal up the soil in a container or pour a lot of boiling water into it.
If its non native then kill it
If you’re confident it’s not native then squish it.
Repot the plant, wash the roots, rinse the soil and stick it in a plastic bag for a couple months to make sure nothing else is going to come out.
If you’re going to be responsible for introducing an invasive species make it something cute or fun.
Like pandas or something
I say you take off and nuke it from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure
Probably should report it to the Dept of Agriculture… just to get a trace on how it got in.
I’ll bet your nearest Universities zoology department would be interested in it, before you go listening to all these maddos that just want to kill every damn thing, see if anyone actually wants it .
