  2. The 49.7% positivity rating is horrifying when you consider the hospitalizations increase and the fact that there is no way to get a test in some parts if the country.

Just hope that the bump in hospitalizations does lead yo a bump in ICU admissions in the next week or so.

The breakdown of the testing system shows how vulnerable we are to this new more transmissible strain.

  3. ‘Cases don’t matter’ will start to become ‘hospitalisations don’t matter, always busy in winter’ this week.

At some stage in January the ‘case numbers don’t matter’ crowd will notice case numbers dipping and tell us ‘ICU and deaths don’t matter because they’re all people with underlying conditions and the number of cases is coming down and that’s what’s important and we should only focus on that.’

  4. I wonder what the numbers would be like if you could actually get a test, I’m 3 days trying at this stage, the whole testing set up is a shambles at the moment.

  5. Managed to get a pcr test today in Shannon. Pretty sure if I didn’t have it before going in I will probably have it after being in that test center.
It’s a walk-in one and people are on top of each quite possibly the worst experience.

  6. 50% positivity rate
Great news …. let it rip natural immunity beckons !!!

Omicron good news in the end….

  7. The obsession with covid by Irish people really is sad and on this sub in particular, people really need to get a life

  8. Anyone have any luck going private for a PCR with the likes of Randox or Rocdoc? Nearly would at this stage as its impossible to get a HSE one. The private companies say you shouldn’t have symptoms though or tested positive in last 14 days? I feel like a slight cold coming on and have tested positive on 2 antigen tests today so I’m in my room assuming I’m definitely positive.
